You ever wonder if movies separated by time and space – set in different universes but connected by a singular element – are secretly part of the same universe? We do too. And no connection seems more likely than the cold, hard fact that Jared Leto’s Joker just might be the same person as Angel Face from Fight Club. Hear us out. Beyond the fact that they share the same actor (which is the biggest link in this fan theory), the personality traits of Jared Leto’s Joker in 2016’s Suicide Squad seem like a logical progression for Angel Face to reach from 1999’s Fight Club. Both the Clown Prince of Crime and Project Mayhem’s second-in-command are agents of chaos. They thrive in situations of unpredictable instability and they lead groups of followers through their ability to jump head first into any situation and control with blunt force.
Sure, they look physically different, but that’s to be expected as time changes peoples’ bodies. As a member of Fight Club, taking and giving regular beatdowns would leave Angel Face’s body bruised and bloodied. In Chuck Palahniuk’s graphic novel follow-up to his seminal novel, he reintroduces Angel Face as a man scarred nearly beyond recognition, serving as a leading force in the increasingly deconstructive movement that Project Mayhem has become.
