FILM DESCRIPTION:
Jack Malik is a struggling singer-songwriter in an English seaside town whose dreams of fame are rapidly fading, despite the fierce devotion and support of his childhood best friend, Ellie. After a freak bus accident during a mysterious global blackout, Jack wakes up to discover that The Beatles have never existed. Performing songs by the greatest band in history to a world that has never heard them, Jack becomes on overnight sensation with a little help from his agent.

Think of the best Japanese sports cars of all time and it’s a fair bet that the Honda NSX and Mazda MX-5 will be near, if not at, the top of the list.

Question, then: how would the new, 2020 Toyota Supra compare to these two Japanese greats?

Not as a like-for-like comparison: the new Toyota, developed alongside the BMW Z4, is a different kind of car. It’s a big front-engined sports coupe, while the Mazda MX-5 is a lightweight front-engined roadster and the Honda NSX is a mid-engined supercar.

But against the Mazda and Honda, does the new Toyota Supra show that its gestation involved German engineering? Can you tell, and if so, does it matter? Are we looking at a Japanese future classic?
