Have Open World Games Gone Too Far?

Open world games have exploded in popularity in recent years, and their vast maps are only getting bigger with the upcoming ps5, and xbox series x video game releases – question is – have they gone just a little too far this time?

SUBSCRIBE NOW to The Gamer! Click here: https://goo.gl/9cpWgf

Here at TheGamer, we love open world games. From the original Zelda to Skyrim and beyond, no genre of video games pushes the medium as hard as open world RPGs. However, with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X on the horizon, we have to wonder, are open world games going too far?

After all, solid state drives are about to make load times a thing of the past. Not to mention that some of the open world games on the horizon, like Elder Scrolls 6 and Grand Theft Auto 6, are set to elevate the genre to new heights. We’re already seeing wild stuff from games like EVE Online and now open world games are about to get even more extreme.

The same is true for the next decade of gaming in general. Improved console hardware will make games better and more responsive across the board, and even affect the PC scene. This may spell a bit of trouble for the Nintendo Switch, but an upgrade or pivot is definitely in store over the next few years. Of course, there will be some downsides to the generation of gaming as well. Social and streaming features seem like they’re on the decline, and storage space is going to become an even greater concern.

That’s why in this video TheGamer is going to take you through the future of open world games and how hardware advancements should make you excited, but still cautious, for them and the entire next decade of video games.
