Why Batman Begins’ Tumbler Chase is the Best Bat-chase Ever | Art of the Scene

As long as there have been Batman movies, there have been Batmobiles. And The Tumbler chase in Batman Begins might be the best Batmobile scene ever. Director Christopher Nolan pulled out all the stops for his first big-budget film and delivered a Batmobile chase that not only makes for one of the best Batman Begins movie clips but also helps Batman Begins stand out as one of the best Christopher Nolan movies.

In this Art of the Scene, we’re going to talk about The Batman scene where Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) races through Gotham to get Rachel Dawes (Katie Holmes) back to the Batcave to give her an antidote to Scarecrow’s hallucinogen.

This Batman Begins analysis will discuss why the Tumbler chase in this Batman Begins clip works so well and how it maintains its illusion of realism. We’ll also look into how Christopher Nolan and his team actually produced the scene.

This Batman Begins breakdown will also highlight Nolan’s thoughts on what his Batman Batmobile should look like and the Batmobile evolution that got us from a crappy clay model to the fully functioning Tumbler.
