Why Console Exclusives Are So Dangerous

With the recent launch of the ps5 and xbox series x, comes a hole new generation of exclusive video game titles! With this already being a game changer in terms of which console to buy some of these can literally all the difference!

Another day another big gaming controversy that has lit the internet ON FIRE. This time around it’s not EA or Naughty Dog that’s in the hot seat but rather Square Enix and Sony for their very questionable decision to include Spider-Man in the new Avengers game but not for Xbox players. Needless to say, this has made a lot of people VERY ANGRY. It’s easy to see why.

You see, the gaming industry thrives on competition and console exclusivity has become a big part of that. Sony’s massive success during this generation has largely been built on the back of their exclusive titles. For that matter, would Xbox even be a thing if it weren’t for Halo? This strategy has driven the business of gaming for years…but is it good for the players? No, not really.

Before we get into that too much, we’ll look back on the brutal history of the console wars and how exclusivity has shaped and broken many aspects about gaming we all know and love. This will inform how we got to where we are today.

Then we will look at the possibly terrifying future that awaits us if console exclusive microtransaction playable characters become the new norm of the gaming world to come. Frankly, I think this generation has seen enough controversy to last two more, don’t you?

So let’s dive right into it, shall we? Here are all the reasons why console exclusives are making a dangerous future for the gaming industry.

Spicy, Crispy Black Pepper Chicken Wings | Quarantine Cooking

Angus An is combining two recipes from his new cookbook “Maenam: A Fresh Approach to Thai Cooking” for a creative take on a classic snack: fried chicken wings coated in a rich, spicy black pepper sauce. The black pepper sauce, primarily served with crab, transforms into a wing sauce by crushing fragrant whole peppercorns with a mortar and pestle, and combining it with other vibrant flavors like oyster sauce, fish sauce, Thai chili, and lots of butter.

Jelly Doughnut Biscuits – Food Wishes

Jelly doughnut biscuits are what you get when you try to make a less-sweet, less-rich baked version of jelly doughnuts, and then roll them too thin. Since this didn’t come out as successfully as I’d hoped, so there’s no Allrecipes.com recipe page link, but just in case you want to play around with this, here’s what I used and did. Enjoy!

For the sponge:
3 tablespoons white granulated sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 packet dry active yeast (2 1/4 teaspoon)
2/3 cup warm milk
For the rest of the dough:
1 large beaten egg
3 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more as needed

– Make sponge, and wait 30 minutes
– Make and knead dough
– Let rise 1 hour or until doubled
– Roll and cut
– Let proof 45 minutes or until doubled
– Bake at 375 F. for 12-14 minutes
– Fill with jam, coat with sugar, and eat
