Javid: ‘Someone inside No 10 decided I shouldn’t come’

Sajid Javid speaks out on not getting invited to Trump’s state banquet.

The Home Secretary couldn’t hide his frustration as he insisted ‘someone’ from no 10 had decided not to invite him to the prestigious dinner.

Various MPs were invited, including the prime minister Theresa May and foreign secretary Jeremy Hunt.

On the Tory leadership contest, Mr Javid is confident he has enough support to make it through to the next round of ballot votes but didn’t share whether he had the support of Matt Hancock.

Exclusive: Chinese firm linked to secret UK-US fighters

Sky News can reveal that a Chinese-owned company in the UK is helping to make the RAF’s top secret, new generation of F35 warplanes.

According to Ministry of Defence publicity material, the printed circuit boards control the plane’s core capabilities – including its engines, fuel and navigation systems.

There’s no suggestion that the company which makes them has done anything wrong.

But the Chinese state has long been accused of trying to steal military secrets.

One Conservative MP described the revelations as “breathtaking”.

Matt Hancock quits Tory leadership race

Matt Hancock reveals to Sky News why he has dropped out of the Conservative leadership race.

He told Sky’s Beth Rigby: “I did better-than-expected but it’s also clear among those arguments for candidate of the future is not where the party is at the moment.”

In the first ballot he gained 20 MP’s support but would have needed another 13 or faced elimination.
