Grace Millane trial: CCTV shows accused ‘taking backpacker’s body to woods’

The Grace Millane trial has been shown CCTV of the accused appearing to buy a suitcase similar to the one that she was later found in.

The footage was shown at Auckland High Court in New Zealand, where a 27-year-old man is on trial accused of murdering the British backpacker.

Ms Millane, from Wickford in Essex, died the night before her 22nd birthday during a Tinder date with the man at the beginning of December last year.

Australia bushfire ‘came through like a cyclone’

Bushfires raging through much of the east coast of Australia have reached the outskirts of Sydney.

For the first time ever the continent’s largest city and its surrounding area was subject to a catastrophic fire danger rating.

‘Extreme’ and ‘severe’ fire danger warnings have also been put in place for much of the rest of New South Wales and Queensland.

Turkey ‘encouraging’ Islamic State return in Syria

Turkey’s President Erdogan has threatened to release Islamic State members and send them back to Europe in response to EU sanctions over Cyprus.

Meanwhile a top Kurdish general – the leader of the Syrian Democratic Forces – has claimed that Turkey is actively encouraging the return of IS and that a major terror attack should now be expected in the West.
