BREAKING: A chartered flight carrying British nationals from Wuhan has landed at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire.

The 83 Britons on board will be transferred by coach to Arrowe Park Hospital on the Wirral, Merseyside, where a special facility has been set up for them to be quarantined for 14 days.

It comes as the first two cases of the new virus were confirmed in the UK by Public Health England.

The World Health Organisation says coronavirus constitutes a public health emergency as flight carrying Britons from Wuhan approaches the UK.

A chartered flight carrying 83 Britons has left Wuhan following the coronavirus outbreak – considerably fewer than the 150 passengers that the British government were anticipating.

Britons being flown back to the UK from the Chinese city of Wuhan and province of Hubei over coronavirus fears will be quarantined for two weeks.

About 200 British nationals are expected to board a flight chartered by the Foreign Office, leaving Wuhan this week.

But not all families are being allowed to leave together.
