Jihadist guilty of plotting terror attack on tourist sites and Gay Pride

A former Uber driver, cleared of launching a sword attack on police outside Buckingham Palace, has been found guilty of plotting a terror attack just months after his release.

Mohiussunnath Chowdhury from Luton, had planned to target iconic tourist sites including Madame Tussauds, Piccadilly Circus and London’s Gay Pride parade, using a vehicle, knife and gun.

The 28-year-old was particularly fixated on the Royal Family and talked about launching an attack during the two minutes’ silence on Remembrance Day.

Medical centre closes over coronavirus incident

Two of the new coronavirus cases announced today involve healthcare workers, Public Health England has said, as a GP surgery in Brighton linked to one of the cases was closed.

Brackley Medical Centre in Northamptonshire says it has also closed as a precautionary measure “due to a potential coronavirus incident”.

It was confirmed on Monday that four more patients in England have tested positive for the virus – including two healthcare workers – bringing the total number of cases in the UK to eight.

GP surgery closes over coronavirus

A GP surgery in Brighton has been closed after it was linked to one of the four coronavirus cases confirmed today, Sky News understands.

Earlier on Monday, four British people tested positive for the virus, having been in contact in France with a UK businessman who contracted the virus in Singapore before flying to the French Alps.

He was confirmed as having the virus in Brighton and was the third person in the UK to contract it.

Storm Ciara: The clean-up begins across the UK

The clean-up is underway after thousands of areas in the UK were left battered by Storm Ciara.

More than 20,000 homes are without power and parts of the UK could see blizzards and up to 20cm of snow.

UK Power Networks said more than 18,500 households across the east and southeast of England are still without electricity, while Western Power Distribution reported more than 2,800 households remain without power.

Coronavirus: ‘Gutted’ Briton wasn’t allowed to leave Wuhan because of two jackets

Josh Skarratts who lives in the Chinese city at the centre of the coronavirus outbreak, was hoping to be back in the UK by now.

His name was on a list of more than 200 Britons and foreign nationals who were evacuated out of Wuhan on a plane chartered by the UK government.

But the comedy club owner’s hopes of leaving the city this weekend were dashed – because of his clothing, he says.
