When homeowners in Sydney, Australia, found a dying female kangaroo on their property, they called rescuers to help. Unfortunately, the kangaroo died before help arrived, but the rescuers were able to pull a tiny joey from the mother’s pouch. Still attached to his mother’s teat, the rescuers had to cut him loose to avoid injuring his mouth by pulling him off. Weighing about nine ounces and around a month old, the baby kangaroo’s chances of survival aren’t great. The rescuers placed the joey in a make-shift pouch and brought him to an experienced carer in hopes he can grow up healthy and eventually be released back into the wild.

في عصر العلم والتفوق التكنولوجي المذهل أصبحت أكثر الأفكار جنوناً قابلة للتحقيق , وهو ما تسعى إليه دولة الإمارات الان
حيث أعلنت الحكومة عزمها سحب جبلين جليديين عبر المحيط من القطب الجنوبي وحتى سواحلها , سيوفر المشروع الخرافي العديد من المزايا التي يتكون بمثابة تغيرات جذرية في منطقة الخليج العربي , فيهدف المشروع توفير المياه العذبة بالإضافة إلى تقليل ملوحة المياه بعد ذوبان جليد الجبلين , كما ان المشروع سيحسن المناخ الحار لمنطقة الخليج بشكل كبير , حيث سيسبب الجليد ترطيب الجو وهطول الأمطار
كما ان المشروع الضخم سينمى قطاع السياحة بصورة كبيرة فستجذب مشاهد جبال الجليد الغير مألوفة في منطقة الجليد ألاف السياح كل عام
ومن المتوقع البدأ في المشروع بسحب الجبل الأول البالغ طوله 3 كيلو متر في عام 2019 إلى استراليا ثم إلى منطقة الفجيرة حيث سيرسو على بعد 24 كيلو متر من سواحل الإمارات
ويقول المدير التنفيذي الإماراتي عبد الله الشحي أن المشروع سيوفر أكثر من 20 مليار لتر من الماء العذب لدولة الإمارات التي تعاني من الشح المائي , كما انه سيحول الإمارات إلى مروج خضراء خلال 10 سنوات فقط
ويقول كذلك المهندس الفرنسي الشهير “جورج مرجان” ان طول المسافة التي سيقطع الجبل حتى يصل إلى سواحل الإمارات سيتسبب في ذوبان 33% من حجم جبل الجليد , ولكنه رغم ذلك سيمد الإمارات بكنز حقيقي
والجدير بالذكر ان الفكرة الغريبة ليست بجديدة حيث حاولت المملكة العربية السعودية تنفيذها منذ ما يقرب من 40 عام , ولكنها تراجعت عن الفكرة بسبب العوائق والمصاعب التقنية وقتها
ام الأن ومع التقدم العملي الكبير , باتت الفكرة قابلة للتنفيذ

Ascension Island was quite barren when Charles Darwin visited, and he had little good to say about the remote, rocky place. But a contemporary of Darwin’s, Sir Joseph Dalton Hooker, saw the island as a blank canvas, ready to serve as home to an ecosystem of his own making. After importing thousands of plants and animals, however, Hooker came to have second thoughts about the undertaking, which wound up threatening the island’s sparse native vegetation. Now, conservationists are working to save Ascension’s few endemic plants from extinction.
