A beluga whale stranded in a Canadian river for several weeks hitched a ride home thanks to a team of rescuers. The whale became trapped in the Nepisiguit River in New Brunswick, Canada, likely in search of food, or after an especially high tide. The rescuers used a net to catch the whale, put it on a stretcher, and then drove it to a waiting plane. It was flown back to the sea and released, where it will hopefully rejoin its pod.

Three baby raccoons befriend a fisherman at a creek in Wooster, Ohio. The extremely playful critters crawled on top of the man and followed him around. Encounters between wild raccoons and humans are common throughout the United States, but what makes this scene heartbreaking is the possibility that baby raccoons are orphans. A second fisherman who came upon the scene not only fed the raccoons a dead fish, but built them a shelter near where they were found.

انتاج فيلم يحتوي على وحوش خيالية لعرضه على شاشات السينما أكثر تعقيدًا مما نعتقد , فهناك العديد من التفاصيل التي يجب وضعها في الحسبان ومنها المؤثرات الصوتية وتحديد الصوت المناسب لكل لوحش
في الفيلم فائق الشهرة “حديقة الديناصورات” الذي ظهر عام 1993 لم تكن الديناصورات موجودة ليتم تحديد صوتها الحقيقي , وكذلك في فيلم كينج كونج لم تكن الشخصية مثل أي غوريلا حقيقية معروفة على الأرض , لذا كان من الصعب معرفة كيف سيبدو صوت الوحش
بالنسبة للديناصورات فإن علماء الحفريات يستدلون على أصواتها من أقرب الحيوانات الشبيهة في الحنجرة مثل الطيور والتماسيح ونظراً لأن الحبال الصوتية مصنوعة من اللحم , واللحم لا تبقي له حفريات فلا يمكنهم الاعتماد على هذه الطريقة بصفة دائماً او بدقة كبيرة
لذلك بحث العلماء عن أقارب الديناصوارات كالطيور والتماسيح , فكثير من العلماء يعتقدون أن أقارب الديناصورات من الطيور كالكاسوراى و الأيمو لها نفس صوت الديناصورات ولكنه أكثر إنخفاضاً , أما التماسيح فهي أيضاً لها نفس خوار الديناصورات وبذلك يكون لدينا مزيج من الصوتين معاً ينتج عنه ذلك الصوت المرعب الذى نسمعه في صالات السينما
ولكن هذا الأمر لا ينطبق على كل الفصائل حيث يرى البعض أن صوت تنفس الهادروصوريات وفقًا لحجم رأسه كان يشبه آلة ديدجيريدو الموسيقية , لذا ففي عام 1997 حين تم تصوير فيلم “العالم المفقود – حديقة جوراسية” قام صانعي الفيلم بتسجيل أصوات الأبقار لتمثل صوت الهادروصوريات , وتم استخدامها لكن بطبقة صوت أعلى , أما السحالي فهي صامتة في الأساس الا اذا كانوا من بعض فصائل الجيكوس
الحقيقة هي أن أصوات الوحوش المنقرضة في الأفلام ليست دائمًا حقيقية
وأحد أسرار تصميم الأصوات على حد قول “بين بيرت” مصمم أصوات أفلام star wars هي أن تقوم بالتسجيل البطىء للصوت المراد مهما كان ضعيفاً فذلك يجعله يبدوا أكثر قوة وحدة , فمثلاً صوت الـ T Rexs المرعب لا يعود لفيل بالغ إنما لفيل رضيع , فحيوان صغير صاحب صوت ضعيف يجدى نفعاً أكثر عند إبطائه قليلاً أكثر من حيوان بالغ وصوت قوى
لاحظنا أنه عندما كانت الديناصوارات الضخمة تهاجم البشر في الفيلم الشهير “حديقة الديناصورات” أنها كانت تزأر أو تخور , ولكن في الواقع لا يوجد أي كائن مفترس يخور أثناء اصطياد فرائسه , فهي تصطاد في صمت بقدر الامكان حتى لا تهرب الفرائس
وحتى عند تحديد أصوات صغار الحيوانات فهم غالباً ما يبحثون عن أشياء غير متوقعة , فصوت كسر بيض صغار الديناصوارات وغيرها من الكائنات الخرافية يتم استخدام صوت تكسير بسكويت الأيس كريم المحمص والذى يشبهها الى حد بعيد , وهو شيء مثير للضحك بالفعل
