Farmer Finds Woolly Mammoth Bones in Michigan | National Geographic

James Bristle, a farmer in Michigan recently found a woolly mammoth rib bone while digging a hole on his newly acquired property. He alerted the University of Michigan who sent Dan Fisher and a team to excavate the area. What they found was several bones and evidence that they believe shows that the mammoth was killed by humans and stashed away in an ancient pond for safe keeping. Fisher believes the mammoth died at least 11,000 years ago, but further testing is needed to confirm the age of the fossils.
