Gina Moseley loves caves. She started caving for sport when she was 13 years old, and now she’s in it for science. Moseley is a geologist and National Geographic grantee who traveled to a remote region of northeast Greenland to conduct climate-change research. She is constructing the first cave-based record of past climate change for Greenland.#BestJobEver

Experience the Beauty of the Galápagos’ New Marine Sanctuary | National Geographic

On March 21, the government of Ecuador announced the creation of a marine sanctuary and 21 conservation areas in the Galápagos Islands, fully protecting a vibrant ecosystem that’s home to the highest abundance of sharks on the planet. The new sanctuary will safeguard more than 47,000 square kilometers of ocean—roughly one-third of the waters around the archipelago—against fishing and other extractive industries such as mining and oil drilling.

Saving South America’s Only Bear Species | National Geographic

The Andean bear, also known as the spectacled bear, is sometimes called the Paddington bear, after the fictional bear in children’s books written by Michael Bond. The spectacled bear is the only bear species in South America, and its numbers are dwindling. In Peru, the Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel, a National Geographic Unique Lodge of the World, has set aside land as a rescue center for the bears.
