Movie Event Sunday Oct 16 8/7c. On March 30, 1981, at 2:27 p.m. six shots were fired from a .22-caliber pistol at the Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C. On one side of the gun was an aimless and deranged young man, misguided by an obsession with an American actress. His intended victim: the U.S. president. Though he failed in his assassination attempt, he succeeded in changing not only a presidency but a man and a marriage.

Meet the World’s First All-Female Team Created to Combat Poaching | Short Film Showcase

The Balule Nature Reserve’s Black Mamba Anti-Poaching (http://www.blackmambas.org/) Unit is the first of its kind: The majority of the team members are women. The main objective of the Black Mamba APU, founded in 2013 by Transfrontier Africa, is the protection of wildlife, but the team also to educates the youth of the communities that live on the boundaries of the Balule region. Currently, there are 26 Black Mambas that operate within Balule Nature Reserve and its surrounding areas, along with 23 armed guards. Poaching and snaring has decreased significantly since their deployment in this area. However, they believe that the war on poaching will not be won with guns and bullets, but through the local communities and education. This short documentary by Black Bean Productions was made possible in part by Empowers Africa and Rhinos in Africa, which you can follow on Facebook.

New footage captured by motion-triggered cameras in secluded areas deep in the Wyoming Wind River range shows a mountain lion family and the animals’ unknown social bonds. In this short documentary produced by WildFutures (http://wildfutures.us/), we also learn about how hard it can be to be a mountain lion, as they face an increasing loss of habitat, harsh winters, trophy hunters and even predators. One cub is lost to an attack by a pack of wolves and another to trophy hunting.
