يقوم صناع السينما بحذف مشاهد من أفلامهم للعديد من الأسباب ففي بعض الأحيان تكون هذه المشاهد لا مبرر لها درامياً في قصة الفيلم وأحياناً ما تكون مدة عرض الفيلم طويلة جداً وهو ما يحتم اختصارها
وبينما تكون هذه المشاهد المحذوفة في أغلب الحالات غير مؤثرة في الأحداث ولا قد تكون كلفتها عالية فيضطر صانع الفيلم للتضحية بمبالغ ضخمة كذلك هي ثمن تصوير هذه المشاهد

Swift and deadly, the Vikings dominated the seas of northern Europe from the late eighth century to the 11th. Their ships—technological feats used for exploration, trade, warfare, and even burials—were integral to the lives of the formidable raiders. Attacking in small groups at first, fleets in the later Viking age could number 250 ships or more.
