ASK THE CHEF: Store Cupboard

When it comes to cooking in your own kitchen it’s reassuring to know that if you have a few common basics stashed away in the cupboard that you can transform a quick shop for fresh bits into a gourmet feast. On the whole these are cheap staples that adapt themselves to dozens of dishes and last for ages in the cupboard. It is by no means a complete list and neither one that needs buying in it’s entirely from the outset… but if you can aim to start collecting these then it becomes simple to build on it over time:-
