In this episode of Chef’s Night Out, Or Amsalam and Alexander Phaneuf of Lodge Bread in Culver City, Los Angeles gather up their friends for a night out at some of their favorite South Bay spots.
The night starts off with a Oaxacan feast at El Jacalito Oaxaqueño for mole negro and enchiladas. They then head to Three Weavers Brewery in Inglewood for lots of beers. Next up is Hatchet Hall, where their friend, chef Brian Dunsmoor, decides to “ruin them with food.” Oysters, duck, asparagus, game hen, salmon pancakes, every salad and crudo on the menu: you name it, they had it. After the meal, they walk next door to Hatchet Hall’s Old Man Bar to party like not-so-old men, for more beers, whiskey shots, and amateur wrestling. They may not totally remember heading back to Lodge Bread to make shakshuka, hummus, tabouleh, and pita, but they remember having a good time.
