With self-driving cars fast approaching, manufacturers are realizing that even though some drivers may not want self-driving cars, research shows that we, as humans have an inherent need for them. #Toyota sees this need and their research institute has been hard at work developing #Guardian, the next generation of their driver assistance tech. Designed to amplify driver control in emergency situations, Toyota says this new technology will eventually become production ready and will eventually replace their current Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 system. #CES

The #Nissan #Leaf was the first mass produced EV available in America back in 2011. When the second generation was introduced last year, we liked the updated styling and improved interior but the range of only 151 miles still left something to be desired. With the new #LeafEPlus, a larger 60 kWh battery now promises 226 miles of EV range, just shy of the 238 in the Bolt and 260 in the Model 3 Mid-Range. Power also increased by nearly 50% and Nissan says 0-60 times should improve to the 6 second range. Will this larger battery be enough to keep Nissan in the mix as the EV market continues to grow with new competitors?

#Byton is probably not a car brand most of you have ever heard of, but the company was founded in 2016 with one of the founders coming from BMW who was responsible for the BMW i3. It will be a global car brand with production to be done in China, designed in Germany but headquartered in America. At launch, the 2021 #MByteConcept will compete head on with the upcoming Tesla Model Y and Audi e-Tron and Byton says the base version will go 250 miles on a full charge, take just 30 mins to recharge to 80%, and cost just $45,000 when it goes on sale in mid-2020 here in America.
