Carl Safina: The oil spill’s unseen culprits, victims

http://www.ted.com The Gulf oil spill dwarfs comprehension, but we know this much: it’s bad. Carl Safina scrapes out the facts in this blood-boiling cross-examination, arguing that the consequences will stretch far beyond the Gulf — and many so-called solutions are making the situation worse.

D3Live: iPod touch 4G Rundown

Twitter: http://twitter.com/duncan33303

Site: http://stateofjailbreak.com

In this episode of D3Live I discuss the upcoming iPod touch 4G. The fourth generation iPod touch could very well be the biggest upgrade since the first iPod touch. Some of the upgrades I expect include both a rear facing camera as well as a front facing camera for use with FaceTime. Upgraded specs including the Apple A4 processor from the iPhone 4 as well as the Retina Display also could be on the way. Lastly I talk about a possible redesign for the iTouch 4G that could bring it closer to what the iPhone 4 looks like.

D3Live is a weekly show I do live every Saturday at 3PM Eastern time. If you are interested in asking me questions for the video or just watching the show live keep an eye out as I will post a video here on YouTube before I begin.

Hans Rosling: Global population growth, box by box

http://www.ted.com The world’s population will grow to 9 billion over the next 50 years — and only by raising the living standards of the poorest can we check population growth. This is the paradoxical answer that Hans Rosling unveils at TED@Cannes using colorful new data display technology (you’ll see).

Nalini Nadkarni: Life science in prison

http://www.ted.com Nalini Nadkarni challenges our perspective on trees and prisons — she says both can be more dynamic than we think. Through a partnership with the state of Washington, she brings science classes and conservation programs to inmates, with unexpected results.

Jailbreak Your iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G on iOS 4 Using sn0wbreeze 1.7

Download sn0wbreeze 1.7: http://ih8sn0w.com/index.php/products/view/sn0wbreeze.snow

In this video I give a full tutorial on how to jailbreak your iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS or iPod touch 2G on iOS 4 using sn0wbreeze 1.7 which was made by ih8sn0w. Before you begin there are a few things you will need:

iTunes 9.2

iOS 4 firmware for your iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS or iPod touch 2G

An iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS or iPod touch 2G on iPhone OS 3.1.2 that has been jailbroken by redsn0w, blackra1n or PwnageTool but NOT with Spirit. This is very important, otherwise you will not be able to use sn0wbreeze 1.7.

If you are running 3.1.2 or are able to downgrade your device back down to 3.1.2 then you should be able to do the jailbreak. If for whatever reason you can’t use sn0wbreeze don’t worry as there are two other jailbreaks coming soon that should be able to jailbreak you no problem. However if you have to be jailbroken on iOS 4.0 right now then you should be good with sn0wbreeze.

YouTube Leanback Tour

Try YouTube Leanback: http://www.youtube.com/leanback

In this video I give a full tour of the new YouTube feature Leanback. YouTube Leanback allows you to queue up a list of videos such as the top videos in a particular category that day, your own playlists, search results and more. The best part is all you have to do is start the videos and they will continue to play so you don’t have to do anything.

YouTube Leanback currently is in beta so there are a few glitches around and more features will likely be added soon but don’t let that stop you from trying it out. I am a big fan of Leanback so while it might not replace YouTube as we know it today there’s still no doubt it’s a great solution for being able to sit back and watch all the videos you like without having to do a thing.

Motorola Charm First Look

In this video I go over the Motorola Charm for T-Mobile. This portrait QWERTY keyboard phone runs Android 2.1 with MOTOBLUR as well as having a 2.8 inch touchscreen and a touchpad on the back dubbed the Backtrack. It also has two microphones (one for noise cancellation), built in Wi-Fi as well as a 3 megapixel camera.

The Motorola Charm is a very interesting device that pairs a fairly unique portrait form factor (similar to the Palm Pixi) with Android 2.1 and a touchpad. No word on how much the Charm will cost when it is available later this summer from T-Mobile.
