2020 Porsche Macan Turbo vs Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography review – the best fast SUV? | Autocar

The Porsche Macan Turbo is a fast, do-anything Porsche SUV and the Range Rover SVAutobiography Dynamic is Britain’s 4×4 alternative. Both are meant to do a similar thing: be a sports car, off-roader and estate car all in one. On paper they’re quite similar: the Porsche Macan Turbo costs from £68,000 and does 0-62mph (0-100kph) in 4.1seconds, thanks to plenty of power – 434bhp – from its 2.9-litre twin turbocharged V6.
The Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic, from Land Rover’s SVO department, does things in a slightly more old-school way. It has a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 with 542bhp, but it’s a heavier car so it can get from 0-60mph in 4.3sec. It costs from £86,000.

For the first time ever, as part of the Best Driver’s Car competition, an international cast of MotorTrend talent from five different countries descend upon WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca to have themselves a little race.
