Doubts over UK satellite plans after Brexit

Sky News has learned that government plans to build Britain’s own satellite navigation system could hit the buffers because other countries have already claimed the signal space.

Britain will not have access to the EU’s Galileo system post-Brexit.

Sam Gyimah, the science minister, said that it was unlikely Britain would be able to do a deal with the EU for continued access to the programme.

But he was more optimistic that the country could negotiate a signal frequency for its own satellite navigation system.

“We speak to a number of allies and there is opportunity here for us,” he said.

“We can’t discuss everything because this is part of our security needs.

“There is a way in which we can deliver something that is consistent with our military needs but with other allies willing to work with us.”

Sky’s Thomas Moore explains how this solution could benefit UK companies.

Channing Tatum on Magic Mike and #MeToo

Channing Tatum says his new London stage production of Magic Mike’s will ‘further the conversation’ in the era of me too.

He told Sky News that the production team of the show are majority female.

As co-director of the show’s premiere, he told Sky News: “It’s all female. We can’t be a bunch of men making the show.”

“It’s a complicated time..a good time but it’s complicated and we are just trying to further the conservation.

There are no right answers and just more explanation and communication.”

The show is an extension of the film released in 2012 inspired by the 28-year-old’s own experience as a stripper in Florida as a teenager.
