Exclusive: Primodos review criticised for ‘not assessing risks properly’

Oxford University professors have told Sky News the evidence against the pregnancy drug Primodos suggests a significant link between it and birth deformities.

The drug was removed from the UK market in 1977, after concerns were raised but not proven.

Medical and Healthcare Products Regulation Agency (MHRA) concluded that a causal association could not be found between hormone pregnancy tests and birth defects in a inquiry.

Sky News saw a draft version of the report had been changed before publication after it’s documentary – Primodos: The Secret Scandal.

The manufacturer of Primodos, Schering now owned by Bayer, has always denied that there is a link between the drug and malformations.

Merkel says EU-UK withdrawal agreement is a ‘fair balance’

The German chancellor told reporters in Dublin that the withdrawal agreement ,that has been rejected three times by the House of Commons, is a ‘fair balance’.

She also spoke of how a no-deal in Ireland could compromise the border as she compared the situation to her experiences in a divided Germany.

“I lived behind Iron Curtain for 34 years. I know what it is like when borders fall.”

Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn continue their meetings to break the Brexit deadlock with ‘unity’ talks.
