Sorry folks, whether we wanted it or not, the PlayStation 5 may very well be getting delayed. We know, we know, it’s horrible news, but rumor has it that, among other things, a parts shortage has Sony really struggling with their next gen PS5 console. The demand is far outweighing the supply of vital PS5 parts sourced from China, which is leading to some massive production costs that could push the release date all the way back to 2021. We really don’t want it to happen, but it may be time to brace ourselves for the inevitable announcement. Without further ado, let’s get into it!
One of the main reasons why the PS5 might get delayed is due to the trouble Sony is having securing DRAM and NAND memory. Those components are in high demand, which is really increasing their prices. If Sony wants these components for their console, then the production costs of the PS5 could be around $450. That means you won’t be getting your hands on the console unless you have $500 just lying around somewhere. It’s also possible that these rumors are completely false and Sony plans on releasing the PS5 on time during the 2020 holiday season.
There’s more to the possible PS5 delay than just that so enjoy the video, let us know what you think about the possibility of a PS5 delay in the comments section below and don’t forget to subscribe to TheGamer for more gaming content.
