How To Make Videos: Color Correction

In this third installment of How To Make Videos I go over the basics of color correction and adding more depth to your video by faking a cinematic look by adding an anamorphic overlay. I go over Hue, Saturation, Brightness, Contrast and Gamma showing you how to edit these properties in Post to make your videos look better in a video editor such as Corel VideoStudio Pro X4. I also give a tutorial on how to make a timelapse.

Doctor Who: Exclusive Sneak Peek at BBC America’s Original ‘Doctor Who’ Specials

Which Doctor Who monster would make the best roommate? What’s the most fashionable Timelord headgear, fez or Stetson? And, of course, the age-old question, pool in the TARDIS or Vortex Manipulator watch?

BBC America put forth these very questions to celebrity Doctor Who fans as well as to devoted viewers who packed the exhibition floor at last month’s San Diego Comic-Con. Their frank and funny answers will be featured in three original specials the network has announced to feed the Whovian need as we count down the nanoseconds until the August 27 fall premiere. Here’s the schedule — mark the calendars and set those DVRs:

Doctor Who: Best of the Doctor — Saturday, August 13 at 9/8c.
Doctor Who: Best of the Monsters — Saturday, August 20 at 9/8c.
Doctor Who: Best of the Companions — Saturday, August 27 following the Doctor Who premiere episode, “Let’s Kill Hitler,” which airs at 9/8c.

The lineup is a Who’s Who of DW fandom: Alison Haislip (The Voice, G4 correspondent), Chris Hardwick (Nerdist), Scott Adsit (30 Rock), Natalie Morales (Parks and Recreation), Eugene Mirman (Flight of the Conchords, Bob’s Burgers), WIRED Magazine senior editor Adam Rogers, singer-songwriter Amanda Palmer (Dresden Dolls), comedian/musician Reggie Watts, Danielle Harris (the Halloween franchise), comedian Paul F. Tompkins, former NFL player Hugh Douglas, and guitar hero Scott Ian (Anthrax). And Who fan fave Mark Sheppard — Canton Delaware III from the two-part season opener — will also be joining the festivities.

X-Alps Ends with a Bang – Event Recap – Red Bull X-Alps 2011

It was a spectacular end to the world’s toughest adventure race today with a close duel between two athletes sparring for second place.
The Red Bull X-Alps finishes 48 hours after the winner arrives in Monaco. Christian Maurer clinched victory at 16:22 on Thursday, and at that time, his nearest followers were over 150 km away.
However, by last night, Toma Coconea and Paul Guschlbauer were lying neck-and neck, around 65 km out from Monaco. They had both flown spectacular flights at heights of up to 3500 m through the southern Alps putting them within range of goal.
As dawn broke, Coconea set off. He ran fast through the twisting valleys that lead to Monaco, sometimes averaging 10 km/h and living up to his nickname, ‘the raging Romanian.’
Meanwhile, Guschlbauer took his time. He knew good flying conditions were forecast, and elected to hike to the same launch place above Isola that Maurer had used two days ago.
