The Duchess of Sussex’s father has accused Meghan of ‘cheapening the royals’ as she and her husband prepare to step back from their duties.

Thomas Markle’s relationship with Meghan has been fraught for several years and he did not attend her wedding to Prince Harry due to ill health.

Hundreds injured as Lebanon’s anti-government protests turn violent

Nearly 400 people have been wounded in Beirut as anti-government protesters tried to force their way into the parliament building.

Police responded with tear gas, water cannons and rubber bullets to disperse the crowds.

Demonstrators have been calling for a new government in response to an economic crisis that has left many unable to pay rent, school fees and hospital bills.

Stalkers could face up to five years in jail for breaching powerful new court orders which ban them from contacting alleged victims.

Police in England and Wales will be able to apply to courts for stalking protection orders (SPOs), which aim to protect victims “at the earliest opportunity”.

Prince Harry and Meghan will lose royal funds and no longer use their HRH titles from spring, Buckingham Palace has confirmed.

The couple will be known as Harry, Duke of Sussex, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.

Harry, who was born a Prince of Wales, will remain a prince.

The announcement marks the conclusion of talks about their future with senior members of the family and royal aides.

Mystery virus that killed two in China may be more widespread

A new type of virus originating from a city in central China may have infected far more people than first thought.

Two people in Wuhan have died after an outbreak of pneumonia linked to the new strain which is believed to have come from a seafood market.

Now health officials in the city confirmed four more people had contracted the illness. Differing reports now place the total number of infections at 45 or 50 cases.

Harry and Meghan will lose royal funds and no longer use their HRH titles from spring, Buckingham Palace has confirmed.

The Sussexes will also repay £2.4m of taxpayers’ money spent on renovating their Windsor home, Frogmore Cottage.

The palace statement said: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are grateful to Her Majesty and the Royal Family for their ongoing support as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.
