Getting Wild at the Hillbilly Huckfest

Conceived originally as an event where a few close friends could get together, ride trails and party up in the mountains in the south of Norway, Hillbilly Huckfest has grown exponentially since the first gathering back in 2009.

Huckfest still retains the same essence of pure fun of those early events, though these days there are a few more people coming to party, watch the action and let loose. The invitation-only dirt jump sender sessions, the focal point of the festival, has been hosted by Norway’s own freeride pro Mads “Makken” Haugen since 2012.

Take a look at what might be one of the raddest mountain bike festivals to ever hit the dirt.

Hard Enduro 2015 Mid Season Review

CLICK for the FULL Red Bull Romaniacs highlight on Red Bull TV: http://win.gs/RomaniacsRedBullTV
The Hard Enduro season started at a cold and snowy Hell’s Gate, moving next to UK for the Tough One. The classic Jonny Walker Graham Jarvis rivalry was in full force, while Walker managed to sustain a slight lead throughout each leg. Erzberg would take it’s toll on the riders at Hare Scramble, where an impassable leg of the course led riders to work together to get their bikes over the terrain. In a remarkable finish, the riders decided they would share the victory, where Walker, Jarvis, Gomez, and Lettenbichler were all crowned winners. The fourth race of the year kicked off at Red Bull Romaniacs, where Jarvis and Walker traded off first position for nearly the entire race. Walker would go on to win with a margin of two minutes, the smallest in Romaniacs history.

With four consecutive wins this season, will Jonny Walker be able to take Sea to Sky and seal the Hard Enduro Grand Slam? Stay tuned, no doubt 2015 will have an exciting finish.

Elimination Rowing Race Against a Tidal Bore – Red Bull Outrow 2015

Eight rowing teams from across the world set off 3km west of Minsterworth in Gloucestershire, attempting to outrow the world renowned Severn Bore.

The eight teams had a 280 metre head start on the bore, which equates to between a 45 second and 1minute head start. After 13 minutes and 42 seconds of intense and physical effort, Oxford Brookes University eventually emerged victorious before being caught by the bore at the 4.5km mark. The British crew beat the Swiss team, Seeclub Zurich, by 1 minute – closely followed in third place by the crew from the Thames Rowing Club.

Despite an average speed of 17kmph all the teams were caught by the Severn Bore which reached speeds of up to 28kmph in the final kilometre of the race.
