But we’re not all lucky enough to have a fixer upper renovated by Drew and Jonathan Scott, decked out with a fireplace hand-crafted from reclaimed bricks, so an Internet yule log will just have to do.

Sit back, relax and let the soothing sounds of the crackling fire and the gentle views of the Property Brothers start your holiday with cheer.

Welcome to “”the Land,”” a Welsh adventure playground that allows children to climb trees, light fires, and construct things using hammers and saws. Filmmaker Erin Davis captures the kids in action in her documentary of the same name. Staffed by adult supervisors called “”playworkers,”” these spaces are becoming increasing popular throughout the rest of the United Kingdom and Europe. Proponents of this type of environment believe kids are empowered when they learn to manage risks on their own.
