The Afro-Brazilian Street Food King Of Oakland | Street Food Icons

Oumar Diouf is a Senegalese chef whose culinary career blossomed while working in South America and led him to create The Damel, an Afro-Brazilian food truck he operates in Oakland, California. After realizing he wouldn’t play soccer professionally, Oumar chose to focus on his cooking skills and traveled the world in his pursuit to become a well-rounded chef. The Damel, a Senegalese ruler from Wolof kingdom, is what Oumar chose to represent his contribution to the food world; he is the king of West African cuisine in Oakland and is determined to share his culture with the people in his community, one meal at a time.
