Milder temperatures have brought respite in some areas but that’s only temporary, with the Prime Minister warning that there was still “months to go” until the end of bushfire season.

Harry Dunn’s mother has spoken of her renewed energy to pursue justice for her son as a protest is held outside the base where he was killed.

American driver Anne Sacoolas left the country after the car she was driving hit Harry Dunn outside RAF Croughton in Northamptonshire in August. Last month, she was charged by the CPS with death by dangerous driving.

She is still in the US having claimed diplomatic immunity shortly after the fatal accident.

A state of emergency has been declared in New South Wales as firefighters struggle to contain the flames caused by record heat in Australia.

Strong winds and high temperatures are expected to bring flames to more populated areas, including the suburbs of Sydney.

Sky’s special correspondent Alex Crawford flew over some of the worst hit areas.

Thousands of people gathered at the funeral of Iranian military commander Qasem Soleimani who was killed in an American drone strike.

A funeral procession took place for Major General Soleimani and Iraqi militant leaders, including paramilitary chief Abu Mahdi al Muhandi, and eight others who died.

Mourners – mostly men in black military fatigues – carried Iraqi flags and the flags of Iran-backed militias who are fiercely loyal to Maj Gen Soleimani.

Iraq’s prime minister has declared three days of national mourning for those who were killed in the airstrike.

Targets to end the use of peat-based products will be missed in what environmentalists say is a massive blow in the UK’s carbon-reduction targets.

Peat is an organic material that takes hundreds of years to develop.

Natural England estimates the UK has lost around 94% of its peatlands over the past century, through agricultural development, forestry and mining for use in horticulture.
