We are waiting with extreme anticipation for the title and trailer for the upcoming fourth Avengers film. Like any big sequel, this one is wrapped in secrecy, which means the internet is having a field day conjuring up theories. Now, we know theories are a great way to set us up for disaster, just look at The Last Jedi, but this one may have some validity. It suggests that Nick Fury knew about the snap all along and that all the events in the MCU that have had felt his influence were done to steer the Avengers towards the battle with Thanos in hopes of winning. It’s been long theorized that time travel will play a role in the fourth film as a way to undo the infamous snap and that will happen with the help of the Quantum Realm, something we’ve seen in Ant-Man. That realm will likely also appear in the upcoming Captain Marvel film, which will be a prequel film set in the 90s and will feature Nick Fury in a supporting role. So these two have known each other for a while. With the foresight of the future, Fury was able to set up a team for Avengers to be prepared for a universe ending event and saved his call to Captain Marvel as a last resort as he knew the Avengers could handle Ultron, Malakeith and other MCU villains fine as he saw the future in the Quantum Realm. Once people started dusting, he knows his apocalypse was upon him and called Carol. He just didn’t know his number was up too. From there, Iron Man will have to help the Avengers get into the Quantum Realm and Captain Marvel will be the one to navigate them through space and time.
