The iconic supervillain Darkseid is undoubtedly on his way to the DC Extended Universe, in order to become its “big bad” – in much the same way the Mad Titan Thanos is the “big bad” of the MCU.

In the comics, he has terrorised Superman and the Justice League for years – and it’s an exciting prospect that we’re going to see him in a live action movie.

While audiences are eagerly anticipating the Lord of Apokolips’ arrival in the franchise, we expect it might take a few more years to happen yet.

With that in mind, here are some theories about some Justice League villains from the comic books who could appear in the DCEU before him – and, of course, why we think that might be the case.

The general idea is that Darkseid is working above Lex Luthor, using him as his puppet as a means of bringing the Injustice League together. Then, once they’ve “tenderised” the Justice League, he will make his move to personally attack a more vulnerable planet Earth.

It’s an interesting theory and, if it turned out to be true, one that would completely differentiate Darkseid from the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Thanos – a character who was created using some influence from Darkseid in the comic books.
