Step inside the pitch meeting that started it all. in 2012 the superhero movie revolution was well underway and Marvel was leading the charge, five films into their cinematic universe with The Avengers on the horizon. The sixth MCU film would tie together all the previous movies and lay out the framework for the whole franchise moving forward. But as exciting as this all was, no movie is perfect, and The Avengers, in all of its epic glory, is no exception. Could Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye team up to save the world? Sure; super easy, barely an inconvenience.

In the early days of the PlayStation 2, Zipper Interactive would debut a third-person shooter called SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs. Authentic, tactical, team-based, and online at a time where few other PlayStation titles were, SOCOM took the home console by storm. It gave Sony’s exclusives a more mature face, provided multiplayer-centric shooters a new standard to compete against, and helped single-handedly move the PlayStation 2’s network adapter and headset into gamers’ homes. The debut of SOCOM 2 the following year created an immediate classic, and confirmed SOCOM as a franchise that would be with PlayStation for years to come – even as unsavoury hackers attempted to ruin players’ enjoyment.
Yet try as SOCOM would, lightning never seemed to strike thrice in the eyes of the series faithful. SOCOM 3, Combined Assault, Confrontation, and many more would all proceed to be good, if not great games in their own right – but whether helmed by Zipper or Slant Six, SOCOM never found its third pillar on which it could rest. And just as it seemed as if the series finally might, SOCOM 4 would both trip over its design, and fall into a hole burrowed out of the PlayStation Network Outage of 2011.
SOCOM was shattered, Zipper was shuttered, and one by one, the entire series would go offline – though the hardcore would continue to find ways to keep the series’ flame alive.
This is the rise and fall of SOCOM.

Xbox Live was created in 2002 and was introduced as the first online gaming and media delivery platform for console gaming. With Xbox Live, gamers could communicate and game with each other across the globe through their Xbox. With this new technology, gamers could share ideas that would form into long lasting friendships..although it more often than not erupted into throwing insults and slurs at each other without fear or consequence.
Today, online gaming is as mundane as they come, with the most popular games now being online only. It all started with Xbox Live. With Xbox Live, gamers were also given a gamertag and a gamescore and, while the gamer tag is just a username, the gamerscore was something of a new idea in online gaming, at least with consoles. Games now came with achievements that players could complete in order to increase their score. This turned into a race to the top to see who could get the highest gamerscore, but now is a staple in almost all online forums.

The CBS suspense thriller, SALVATION returns this summer and the secret of the asteroid hitting earth becomes public knowledge following a nuclear incident, setting the world on a dangerous course. Jennifer Finnigan who plays Grace Barrows gives a sneak peek into the 2nd season premiere and how her character is haunted by Claire, the former Senior Adviser to the president, whom she killed in self-defense on the 1st season finale.
