WITHOUT the celeb knowing they did. They usually try to change the look of the celeb ever so slightly, but let’s be real- we know who they are. Movie magic is a real thing. We are sucked into a world that is fully created for us and if done properly we don’t even see it. Often the best work in CGI and special effects is when you don’t notice it. However, there are some moments in movies that look SO real it’s hard to believe they were created off-set. We start to ask ourselves, was that real? How did they possibly do that?

In the James Bond franchise film, “Skyfall”, Silva, played by Javier Bardem, removed half his face; how did they do that? Was Jennifer Connelly’s performance in “Blood Diamond” opposite Leonardo DiCaprio somehow misrepresented in post-production? How about Gary Sinise’s amputated legs in “Forest Gump”, playing alongside Tom Hanks? Practically the entire world of 1920’s “The Great Gatsby” was created by green screen. And in “The Change-Up”, “Machete”, and “Game of Thrones” we didn’t always see the nudity we think we saw. Did Jessica Alba, Olivia Wilde, and Leslie Mann really bare it all? You know something looks real when you have multiple people passing out in a theatre due to gruesome effects. Which is what happens in Julia Ducournau’s horror cannibal film “RAW” which played at TIFF. Or what about Darth Vader’s eyebrows in “Star Wars” and the horrific baby drowning scene in “A Beautiful Mind”. Both way to convincing for comfort, yes we did just compare a drowning scene with awful eyebrows. Did Chris Evans lose and gain weight for his role of Steve Rogers in “Captain America”? Is “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2” directed by James Gunn hiding something in plain sight?

Watch this video to find out all the crazy moments in film that look so insanely real that you believed them…but in reality, or not reality we should say, it was all fake. All made by master special effects artists so you’re movie-going experience is filled with “ohs” and “ahs”! Bet you can’t guess which number one movie moment tricked us all!
