Children’s television is often filled with happy moments, great scenes, and good lessons for children. When shows are slated to end, they often take a turn for the worst. Death, the loss of characters, and very dark themes have encompassed several different children’s shows through the years. Some of these dark moments were done by accident – like if the show got canceled – and others were purposely made dark.

Full House was one of the cheesiest and family-friendly shows on television. For eight seasons, it paved a path for TGIF and ended with a special one hour finale where Michelle loses her memory and discovers a dark secret even viewers can’t handle to watch. Regular Show was known for its random and goofy comedy, but they brought the emotions in their series finale when a character died and the rest of them grow up. Green Lantern: The Animated Series was supposed to last for multiple seasons, but the failure of the movie led to the cancellation of the series and a major character death. Alf was as goofy as they come, but the cliff-hanger finale of the show left fans in tears as they realized the painful truth about the alien creature. We all know the Dinosaurs go extinct, but it didn’t make it any easier to watch the Sinclair family meet their demise in the series finale of the live-action puppet show. Superhero shows like Young Justice, Teen Titans and the New Adventures of Batman all featured dark episodes with some pretty crazy moments for a cartoon. Playing any game should be great, but there are way too many educational games that turn into duds. Boring mechanics, horrible graphics and bad gameplay make the games torture to play and children often just want to flip open a text book instead. Luckily, there are some great game developers who have mixed educational games with fun and released some hits. These games include educational elements like typing, trivia, computer coding and mental meditation.

In SEGA’s the Typing of the Dead: Overkill, the House of the Dead zombie game is completely transformed into a world where you must type to kill. Every correct letter serves a bullet to the head and you’ll be a speed typer in no time. Jump on the bandwagon to win some crazy cash and prizes with the game HQ Trivia. Hosted for 15 minutes every day, the trivia game improves players declarative knowledge and has increasingly difficult questions players must answer correctly to win. Minecraft has a lot of educational elements to it, but they’re all increased dramatically with the release of Minecraft: Education Edition. Learn to relax, meditate, and find your inner calmness with the meditation game known as Deepak Chopra – Leela. Go on a crazy typing adventure with a giant fox in the beautiful looking game entitled Epistory – Typing Chronicles. The simplistic nature and challenging puzzles found in Sugar, Sugar make the game addicting, exciting and one to get lost in while playing. Snail Bob is a great platforming franchise with tons of installments and hours of educational gaming. Watch to see all 8 learning games for kids that don’t suck!
