Have you ever heard of something and thought, with all your heart, you wanted it to be true. Maybe you were a kid and didn’t know any better or someone who just wants to believe in the absurd. But sooner or later, the truth comes out and you have a hard pill to swallow. You have been bamboozled. Don’t worry, though, we have been lied to and have been tricked before and the best way to deal with it is to look back and laugh. Gamers have experienced this from day one. Kids would tell all their friends at school that Sonic is totally unlockable in Super Smash Bros. Melee or that you can totally find Mew under the truck in Pokemon Red and Blue. However, as we got older and the internet started to be widely used, hoaxes that we believed back in the day started to disappear. Of course, as most of us know, rumors and misinformation pop up again and soon we had more elaborate and harder to disprove lies. Suddenly, we started to get these “old secrets” and other myths about our favorite games that were a little easier to pull off and a little harder to disprove. Ah child actors. When they are bad, they are still sort of ok since let’s be honest, we don’t expect much from them. But as soon as they show us that they are capable of greatness, we can sometimes heap so much pressure on them to continue to deliver, that it breaks them. The lucky ones just leave the business and wind up leaving normal lives. The unlucky ones however…well, things often spiral out of control. Sometimes, even turning deadly.
