أكد رئيس الوزراء العراقي حيدر العبادي حرص بلاده على إقامة أفضل العلاقات مع الكويت، في سعي منه لسحب فتيل توتر بين البلدين بشأن القناة المائية المعروفة بـخور عبد الله. يذكر أن اتفاقية خور عبد الله هي اتفاقية دولية حدوديّة بين العراق والكويت، تمت المصادقة عليها في بغداد 2013 تنفيذًا لقرار كان أصدره مجلس الأمن في عام 1993
