Obama Welcomes Chicago Cubs to the White House (FULL EVENT) | ABC News

It wasn’t lost on President Barack Obama or the Chicago Cubs that Monday’s White House celebration of the team’s World Series victory would be the last official event of his presidency. It also wasn’t lost on team president Theo Epstein that the Cubs were being honored by a notoriously loyal Chicago White Sox fan. “We have taken the liberty of offering you a midnight pardon,” Epstein joked to Obama during the afternoon ceremony. “We welcome you with open arms today to the Cubs family.”

Obama responded in kind.

“Among Sox fans I’m the Cubs’ No. 1 fan,” he declared.

Both Obama and Epstein spoke to a packed East Room of the White House filled with current and former players along with White House staff, many of whom are Cubs fans.

The ruby seadragon isn’t a mythical creature, but like its cousins, the common and leafy seadragons, this rare fish looks like the stuff of fantasy. A relative of the seahorse, it was known only from preserved specimens for nearly a century. Analysis by the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego and the Western Australia Museum recently showed that the specimens formed a distinct species. But the animal still had never been filmed alive in its natural habitat. Now, members of the same team report that they have captured footage of theruby seadragon well-hidden in its deep habitat.

Girlfriend’s Day | Official Trailer [HD] | Netflix

Roses are Red,
Violets are Blue,
Write a card too clever,
And someone might kill you!

Ever wonder who penned the perfect words to the Mother’s Day card you sent last year? Or the hilarious birthday card you gave your best friend? A master of words, that’s who.

In the Netflix original film, Girlfriend’s Day, director Michael Paul Stephenson (The American Scream) invites you to experience a clever and quirky story about love, loss and the worst place to get a paper cut. Meet Ray Wentworth (Bob Odenkirk), once a king of the wordsmith world, and now a down-on-his-luck romance card writer. In an effort to recapture the feelings that once made him the greatest, he gets entangled in a web of murder and deceit as writers vie to create the perfect card for a newly crowned holiday: Girlfriend’s Day.

The film also stars Amber Tamblyn, Natasha Lyonne, Ed Begley Jr., Stacy Keach, Rich Sommer, June Diane Raphael, Andy Richter, Stephanie Courtney, Toby Huss, Stephen Michael Quezada, Derek Waters, and Echo Kellum.

He Spent 40 Years Alone in the Woods, and Now Scientists Love Him | Short Film Showcase

Welcome to Gothic, Colorado—one of the coldest places in the United States. This ghost town has been abandoned since the 1920s, but there is at least one person who still calls it home. For more than 40 years, current resident billy barr has lived in a small cabin, recording data about the snowpack to pass the time. In this short film, Morgan Heim of Day’s Edge Productions profiles the legendary local who inadvertently provided scientists with a treasure trove of climate change data. Winner of the Film4Climate competition organized by the Connect4Climate Program of the World Bank (film4climate.net).
