Set in 1940s New York, Florence Foster Jenkins is the true story of the legendary New York heiress and socialite (Meryl Streep) who obsessively pursued her dream of becoming a great singer. The voice she heard in her head was beautiful, but to everyone else it was hilariously awful. Her “husband” and manager, St. Clair Bayfield (Hugh Grant), an aristocratic English actor, was determined to protect his beloved Florence from the truth. But when Florence decided to give a public concert at Carnegie Hall, St. Clair knew he faced his greatest challenge.

Could Biking in a City Be Bad for Your Health? | National Geographic

For some people, biking to work is a choice to live a healthier lifestyle. But could their daily two-wheeled commute do more harm than good? That’s the question researchers at Columbia University are trying to answer as part of an ongoing air pollution study in New York City. In partnership with WNYC public radio, the school has been recruiting bicyclists from around the city to wear special monitoring devices on their morning commutes. From the data collected, which include GPS locations and particulate-matter concentrations, the researchers are able to map out air pollution exposure levels along the routes. Bikers are of special interest, as they breathe deeper and ride close to traffic, one of many pollution sources in the city. Though still in its early stages, the study could have implications for city planning that would keep the health of bicycle commuters in mind.

I saw an awesome concept for a concealment shelf floating around Facebook last year (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHAPk97Mp5s) and thought it was great! Until I looked at the price.

I wondered if I could build something similar myself and save some money.

It took 1 full week of prototyping, and I pulled more inspiration from a website called Tactical Walls (https://tacticalwalls.com) and came up with my own version that looks great, works awesome, and gives peace of mind when something important needs to be hidden.

My shelf uses magnetic locks to keep it closed, and as easy as it seems to open, for anyone who doesn’t understand how it works, it’s deceptively difficult to open, even for adults.
