لماذا تختلف أشكال عيون الكائنات الحية ؟

ما هو السبب وراء التنوع الواسع في شكل بؤبؤ العين لدى الحيوانات ؟

هناك دراسة نُشرت حديثاً قام فيها الباحثين بدراسة اختلاف بؤبؤ العين والتّغيُّرات التي تطرأ على شكله حسب بيئة وطبيعة عيش الحيوان..
بدايةً لابد أن نعرف أن بؤبؤ العين هو الجزء المسؤول عن التحكم بكمية الضوء الداخل إلى شبكية العين في جميع الكائنات.. وهذا البؤبؤ يختلف شكلاً وحجماً من كائنٍ إلى آخر
وقد أتضح للباحثين أن شكل البؤبؤ وحجمه لهما علاقة مباشرة بكون الحيوان إمّا مفترساً أو فريسة
توصل البُحاث إلى مجموعة من النتائج، من أهمّها أنّ بعض الحيوانات تميل لامتلاك بؤبؤ عينٍ ذي شكلٍ طولي ومحدّب إذا كانت مفترسة ومتربصة بفريسة، وأيضاً إذا كان ارتفاعها قريباً لسطح الأرض..كالتماسيح والأفاعي والقطط، الأمر الذي يساعدها على التحكم في كمّية الضوء حتّى تتمكّن من التّركيز وقياس المسافة المناسبة لاصطياد فريستها.
في المُقابل فإنّ الفرائس من الحيوانات، والتي تكون عادةً في حالة حذر من الفريسة، تمتلك بؤبؤ عين ذي شكلٍ مستطيل وأفقي، وذلك حتى تستطيع رصد اقتراب المفترس وتفحُّص المنطقة من حولها بشكل واسع لإيجاد طريقٍ مناسبٍ للفرار، مثالاً على ذلك: الغزلان والخراف

هذا وقد وضعت الدّراسةُ أيضاً في الحسبان موقع العينين (إن كانتا أمام الرأس أم على جوانبه) وارتفاعهما عن السطح..
وأخيراً وبالنسبة للأعين المستديرة البؤبؤ (كأعيننا) فالمُرجّح أن يكون للارتفاع الدّور الأهمّ في الموضوع، إذ أنّ أعيننا مرتفعة عن الأرض بشكل مناسب ممّا يساعدنا على الرؤية بشكلٍ بانورامي كأصحاب البؤبؤ الأفقي والتحكم الضوئي وتقدير المسافة بشكل جيد كأصحاب البؤبؤ الطّولي في آنٍ واحد
وفي النهاية فإنّ هذا الموضوع لا يزال قيد الدراسة، كما أنّ العلماء يريدون الاستمرار بدراسة عيونٍ أكثر غرابة كعيون السحالي والأسماك
