Red Bull Global Rallycross Washington DC Highlights

Nelson Piquet Jr. earned the first victory of his Red Bull Global Rallycross career in Saturday’s Red Bull GRC Washington DC presented by Volkswagen. After finishing runner-up to Patrik Sandell in last year’s inaugural race in DC, Piquet turned the tables by holding off Sandell from start to finish in this season’s final.

Piquet’s victory was also the first for SH Rallycross, and came on the heels of a nearly perfect weekend. He turned the second-fastest lap in qualifying, won both of his heat races, and claimed a victory in the semifinal to earn lane choice on the grid. The victory also allowed him to jump from sixth to third place in the Supercar standings with only five races remaining.

Ken Block finished third, earning his class-leading fifth podium finish of the 2015 season. The result extended his Supercar championship lead to 41 points over Sebastian Eriksson of Red Bull Olsbergs MSE. Chip Ganassi Racing’s Steve Arpin and Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross’ Tanner Foust completed the top five.

Antilia is a private home in South Mumbai, India. It is owned by Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries Limited and includes a staff of 600 to maintain the residence.

Antilia was designed by Chicago-based architects Perkins + Will. The Australia-based construction company Leighton Holdings began constructing it. The home has 27 floors with extra-high ceilings (other buildings of equivalent height may have as many as 60 floors). The home was also designed to survive an 8-Richter scale earthquake.

In regards to the three helipads, the Indian Navy said it will not allow the construction of helipads on Mumbai buildings, while the Environment Ministry, following a representation from Awaaz Foundation, said the helipads violate local noise laws. Issues have also been raised with regards to the construction of an illegal car park.

In 2011 it was reported that Ambani had yet to move in to the home, despite its completion, for fear of “bad luck”. According to Basannt R. Rasiwasia, an expert in Vastu shastra, claims the home does not conform to Vastu requirements. However, Ambani later confirmed that his family had been living there since about September 2011.
