الملك عبد الله بن عبد العزيز بن عبد الرحمن بن فيصل بن تركي آل سعود (1343 هـ / 1924- 23 يناير 2015)، الملك السادس للمملكة العربية السعودية ويلقب بخادم الحرمين الشريفين وهو ذات اللقب الذي اتخذه الملك فهد قبله. هو الابن الثاني عشر من أبناء الملك عبد العزيز الذكور، وأمه هي فهدة بنت العاصي بن شريم الشمري. ولد في عام 1924 بمدينة الرياض، التاريخ الحقيقي لميلاد الملك عام 1916[1]. في عام 1995 استلم إدارة شؤون الدولة وأصبح الملك الفعلي بعد إصابة الملك فهد بجلطات ومتاعب صحية. وبعد وفاة الملك فهد في 1 أغسطس 2005 تولى الحكم، وبالإضافة لكونه ملكا للدولة فإنه يشغل منصب رئيس مجلس الوزراء تبعا لأحكام نظام الحكم في المملكة القاضية بأن يكون الملك رئيسًا للوزراء. وهو يعتبر من أثرى أثرياء العالم، إذ ذكرت مجلة فوربس الأمريكية في نشرة لها حول أغنى الملوك في العالم نشرت في 2010 أن قيمة ثروته تقدر ب18 مليار دولار على جانب آخر فقد صنفته المجلة آنفة الذكر في عام 2011 كسادس أقوى الشخصيات تأثيرا في العالم
قلص الملك أنشطته منذ يونيو 2010 مع عدم وجود تفسير واضح. من 2010 إلى 2012 خضع لعدة عمليات ويعاني من انزلاق غضروفي. غادر الملك عبد الله السعودية في “إجازة خاصة” في 27 أغسطس 2012. خضع لعملية جراحية في مستشفى ماونت سيناي في نيويورك في أو قبل 4 سبتمبر 2012، إثر إصابته بأزمة قلبية. ومع ذلك، لم يكن هناك تقرير رسمي عن هذه العملية المزعومة. بدلا من ذلك، تم الإعلان رسميا أن الملك ذهب في رحلة خاصة إلى المغرب، حيث أنه معروف بالتردد عليها في كثير من الأحيان. وعاد بعدها إلى السعودية في 24 سبتمبر 2012.
