Classic Cobra Strikes Monterey! – Epic Drives Ep. 28

On this special episode of Epic Drives, host Arthur St. Antoine shadows a stunning rally route from Tacoma, Washington, to Pebble Beach, California, aboard a modern interpretation of one of the most legendary muscle-sports machines of the 1960s, the brutal 427 Cobra. Lovingly recreated by Factory Five Racing, the ferocious Mark IV Roadster boasts all the hallmarks of the original: mega-horsepower V-8, alluring curves, thundering side pipes, fat tires, minimum weight, and zero amenities. Taking the wheel, Arthur encounters freezing rain, breathtaking vistas, historical treasures, and an untamed beast of a machine that’s pure, raw, and unforgettable.

To celebrate the world famous annual classic car pilgrimage to Monterey, Motor Trend is bringing you its own week dedicated to classic cars! Get ready for “classic” versions of your favorite original shows including Ignition, Head 2 Head, The J-Turn, Epic Drives and two special editions of Wide Open Throttle coming to you live from the Infiniti Performance Pavilion at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

Back in 2009, as undergrad students at USC, Alex Chang and Bobby Kronfli started Paladar, an illegal, underground restaurant for their friends and fellow classmates. Dissatisfied with the dining options on campus, Alex and Bobby starting cooking the food they loved and hosting dinner parties for their closest friends. When they realized how in demand their food was, the two decided to start a supper club out of their college apartment, where Alex would take the lead as head chef and Bobby would handle the business side. Now, a few years later, Alex and Bobby have entered the real world, where they are running and cooking in their own, legal restaurants. After a night of service, we hit the town with the Paladar crew. Starting with some good bar food at Freddy Smalls, drinks at Redwood Bar and Grill, and a MUNCHIES meal of chicken katsu at Bacaro LA, Bobby’s restaurant, it’s clear that these recent college grads still know how to party. Check out their documentary for a deeper look into their Paladar days at USC, now available on iTunes: http://bit.ly/1sMsz3V

For Travis’ first official Homemade movies, we have Ben back in the house helping out with art and all the normal rules of the game, everything had to be done in camera!

It was recently John Landis’s birthday, and son Max has decided to give him a very special birthday present: stepping into David Naughton’s shoes and re-enacting the transformation scene from An American Werewolf in London. We probably won’t win an Oscar for Best Makeup for this homemade effort, but it’s the thought that counts, right?
