Red Bull Soapbox Race first took place in in 2000, and has since visited over 80 countries including Austria, South Africa, USA, France, England, Italy, Australia, Japan, and Hong Kong. September 29th, 2013 marked the inaugural event in Taiwan, as well as the only Asian country to host the event this year. The event saw over 50 teams race full speed down a track over 350 meters long in their home-built cars before finishing at the entrance of the Taipei National University of the Arts. Passionate, ingenious, and zany teams all battled it out to be crowned the winner, with the race itself being judged on speed, creativity, and over all showmanship.
