Doctor Who’s MATT SMITH is trading his bowtie – for a tank top in the inspiring true story of the Olympic rowing team determined to keep the British spirit afloat.

Here, Bert Bushnell (Matt Smith) gives an inspiration speech to his teammate Dickie Burnell (Sam Hoare, Jane Eyre): “We got to pull together… if we’re gonna do this. Two gotta become one. I mean, we are one, already…”

Just in time for the start of the London Olympics, the drama is an inspiring story of how two young British men, thrown together just weeks before the final of the 1948 London Olympics, rose above distinctions of birth and class to defy the odds and become gold medalists.

GOING FOR GOLD is written by William Ivory (Made in Dagenham) and executive produced by Jessica Pope (Sense and Sensibility) – and presented by Dramaville, the home of groundbreaking British drama. Immediately followed by the U.S. Premiere of the Third and Final Absolutely Fabulous 20th Anniversary Special, only on BBC America.
