Why won’t console storage matter in the future? Well the short answer is cloud gaming may take over, and on some levels, it feels as though it already has. We’re going to walk you through the major pros and cons to cloud gaming, and how it may leave the traditional ways of downloading games from subscription services like xCloud and vendors like Steam as well as the purchase of physical copies seem like things of a distant past.

Cloud gaming has been in development for well over a decade. Many doubters are now jumping on the bandwagon of becoming true believers in it thanks to the big dogs Microsoft and Google getting involved, as if you through enough money and resources at something imaginary, and somehow, it makes itself real. These major players have the resources, man and woman power, and infrastructure to make something that was probably scribbled on a napkin in a SIlicon Valley suburban dive bar in the early 90s into (another) multi-billion dollar gaming idea, keeping our eyes glued to screens engaged in one of the world’s most popular pastimes: gaming.

We’re going to talk about the current state of affairs: how big games are, how big they might get, and how gamers are evolving in what they want and what they expect. Games should theoretically outgrow the consoles they’re on, and cloud gaming should provide a solution to that future us problem!
