First released in 2006, the PS3 would go on to be a huge hit around the world! Though it would never outsell the Nintendo Wii, it would eventually outsell Microsoft’s Xbox 360, thanks in part to incredible titles such as Uncharted, The Last of Us, and Metal Gear Solid 4!

The PlayStation 3 lived an odd life, filled with some controversies, some great games, and also three major revisions each with their own strengths and weaknesses. Some PS3s can play PS2 games, some have an openable disc tray, and some can even natively run Linux – assuming they haven’t been updated past a certain point, that is. At the same time, the PlayStation Network is still up and running for the PS3, and is still free to use for PS3 games in 2020! PS3 games can still be downloaded, along with DLC for physical games!

And as for those physical games, many of them are dirt cheap nowadays! However, many have also since received updated ports to newer consoles such as the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

With the release of the PS5 and the continued success of the PS4, is it still worth buying a PS4 in 2020? Well, join us today as we go over the PS3’s hardware, software, and accessories as we decide if it’s worth buying and collecting for in 2020!
