Until recently, the thought of a fully realized, movie-worthy Star Wars series on television was unthinkable. The franchise has dabbled in the TV realm since almost the very beginning, but there’s a reason The Star Wars Holiday Special is buried in a vault so deep even Indiana Jones couldn’t find it. But with the advent of Disney+ and the wildly popular first season of The Mandalorian, suddenly Star Wars has come alive on the small screen.
As we wait for The Mandalorian: Season 2, the Bad Batch animated series and other major new Star Wars projects, let’s explore the colorful and sometimes less than glamorous history of the Star Wars franchise in television.
IGN Podcast Unlocked host Ryan McCaffrey explains why he feels that Halo Infinite’s delay into 2021 weakens the argument to buy an Xbox Series X at launch, but is the right move for the long-term health of the Halo franchise.
Halo has evolved quite a bit throughout it’s history as Microsoft Xbox’s flagship video game exclusive. Master chief has had incredible success and gearing up for the new Infinite launch, we thought it’d be worth showing where it all started!
Halo: Combat Evolved launched in the Fall of 2001 alongside the release of the original Xbox, and in the nearly two decades since, Halo has become and remains a worldwide phenomenon. With 13 total Halo games and 5 mainline entries, dozens of books, and an endless sea of merch and related content, Halo has changed and evolved enormously since its inception.
Considering how much Halo there is, the whole franchise can be intimidating to newcomers who may not know where to start. Luckily (to some) though, the fundamentals of Halo haven’t changed all that much, and it’s easier than you think to jump in and experience Master Chief’s adventures for yourself.
Today, we’re here to follow the evolution of Halo as a franchise over the years; talk about its legacy and influence on gaming as a whole; and tell you what you need to know about the upcoming Halo Infinite as well as talk about why some fans aren’t happy with the next-gen Halo’s direction.
Whether you’re a longtime Halo fan looking for a refresher in the leadup to Halo Infinite’s 2021 launch or you’ve never played a single Halo game before, we’re here to give you the definitive overview of the evolution of the Halo franchise, including what we know about Halo Infinite.
