The trailer for Avengers: Endgame got us all excited, and it confirmed something most of us had already assumed – that Tony Stark’s journey back to Earth will be far from a simple affair.
Robert Downey Jr.’s iconic character was seen floating aimlessly in space (in a spaceship, we should specify), accepting the fact he was going to die in the distant cosmos.
Of course, his Marvel Cinematic Universe journey may well come to an end in the fourth Avengers movie – but it certainly won’t come to an end with him alone in space. Tony Stark will definitely make it back to Earth in order to fight another day.
In this video, we’ll be theorising how that might happen.
Several characters could end up being responsible for his safe return and they include Doctor Strange (who might not really be dead and who obviously knows how important Stark is in the fightback against Thanos), Captain Marvel (whose ability to fly through space unaided makes her a suitable saviour), Thor (who can also navigate the cosmos and who knows Stark is missing, given that they’re friends), Pepper Potts (who may don the Rescue armour to save her soulmate), Shuri (she’s a genius, she can solve any problems – and given that she’s expected to work alongside Tony Stark in Avengers: Endgame, this makes sense), or maybe even a character who hasn’t yet been introduced in the MCU, like Nova, Beta Ray Bill or Adam Warlock).
