Others were attempts by other manufacturers to enter the lucrative gaming market.
But for every Game Boy, DS, or Switch, there have been numerous handheld systems that failed to gain ground in the market as they gathered dust on store shelves.
These systems may have suffered from subpar gameplay, economic downturns, or poor marketing.
Systems such as the Supaboy Portable SNES allowed players to play home console games on the go, but couldn’t get players to take it home.
Other systems, like the Sega Nomad, couldn’t use their cutting-edge technology to overcome bad timing.
