Watching huge esports mistakes is both good and bad. On one hand, you’ll be amazed at some of the huge blunders some of your favorite players have made over the years, but on the other, it hurts us to our core when we see someone make a really simple mistake that cost them everything. Most of the time, the error is so quick, it takes a second to fully process what happened! And then we’re left dumbfounded at the result.

Sometimes these mistakes are just a result of poor judgement, like S1mple bringing a knife to a gun fight, or sometimes they’re just tragic accidents like the RLCS match between Veloce and Renegades, but either way, they are mistakes that deserve to be highlighted! Throughout the history of gaming, there have been pieces of hardware that either failed to catch on, were dead on arrival, or had problems that threatened to sink them.

These can range from consoles and console accessories that just missed the mark, to even a major hardware issue that threatened to bring down one of the most popular game consoles of the past twenty years. While some of these hardware failures were just small defects that plagued certain systems, with some of these entries, the hardware itself was the problem, with perhaps there being nothing possible that could be done to save them.

Whether these came from industry juggernauts such as Nintendo or Sony or from smaller companies just trying to make a name for themselves in the video game industry, these are some of the most incredible hardware failures in gaming history. From a 90s virtual reality experience that would literally make you start seeing red to a handheld with Swedish mafia ties, these are some of the most major flops and almost-flops in gaming history. Some of these are systems that were ahead of their times, some may have tried to force a new trend that the overall public just didn’t care about, and some of these pieces of hardware were so plagued with issues that there was likely no way to save them!
